The wedding with the flag
After the marriage banns at the town hall the whole village hung out the flag. Bride and groom spent a day going by horse and cart to all the family and friends.
The wedding itself was celebrated twice: first a day at the groom's, and on the wedding day at the bride's. Braad writes this among the customs from before 1900, on a small island where people depended on one another. Many of those customs have vanished. He gives nothing more about the wedding itself.
Translated from Dutch.
